Cut Off Time Improvements and Deployment of Additional Vehicles Strengthen Korean Businesses' Competitiveness in High Growth Region

SEOUL, Mar 26, 2014 - UPS (NYSE: UPS), a global leader in logistics, is extending its cut off times by deploying additional vehicles in three important  growing zones in Korea - Bucheon and Seongnam (including Pangyo), both leaders in the hi-tech manufacturing industry, and industrial areas in Busan (Noxan and Sinpyeong).

Customers in these areas can now enjoy extra time and flexibility when shipping packages to key markets in the United States, Europe and Asia. This service expansion is aimed at enabling Korean businesses in these regions to stay competitive in the global market.

Cut off times for same day on boarding were extended up to three hours for Seongnam, and by one hour each for both Bucheon and Busan.

The extended cut-off time for the cities are as below:

  • Seongnam - from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • Bucheon - from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • Busan - from 11:40 AM to 12:40 PM

Additionally, the cut off time for next day on boarding in Busan has also been extended by an hour from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

The later cut off times will be supported by the deployment of additional vehicles in the three zones to ensure operational efficiency thus catering to growing customer demand. This brings the total delivery fleet in Korea to 123 vehicles, ranging from package vans to trucks and motorcycles, amongst others.

"UPS Korea evaluates customers' needs, and our service regions on a regular basis to address the constantly changing global marketplace, as well as to support Korean businesses to expand regionally and globally in the highly competitive environment," said JK Rha, Managing Director of UPS Korea. "With the new service enhancements in Seongnam, Bucheon and Busan, we are in a strong position to further support our customers and will continue to strengthen our commitment to the Korean market."
