Sponsorship Facilitates Cultural Exchange between Japan and Europe
Tokyo, November 24, 2009 - UPS was recently appointed as the Official Logistics Partner of The 16th Osaka European Film Festival (OEFF) in Osaka which will run from October 31 to December 3, 2009. As OEFF's official logistics partner, UPS will be responsible for shipping the films from all participating European countries to Osaka and back after the festival ends.
"UPS is honored to help facilitate the cultural exchange between Japan and the European countries through this sponsorship. UPS will continue to connect Japan with the rest of the world through our global network that spans more than 200 countries and territories," said UPS Japan President Yoshiki Mizokuchi.
The OEFF began in 1994 when French filmmaker and OEFF Executive Producer Patrice Boiteau proposed the idea of sharing European visual art, with films as the primary focus with Japan. The film festival aims to promote deeper mutual understanding between the Japanese and Europeans. It also seeks to support the development of cultural activities throughout the western Japan region. Since then, the OEFF has premiered the latest European "artistically and socially remarkable" films and has earned a reputation as being a leading cultural event in western Japan.
Some of the highlights of the 16th OEFF are the premiere screening of 11 European films at the ABC Hall, the Dutch Film Festival at the Cine Nouveau, The Night of the Ad Eaters 2009, a marathon screening of ads from around the world.
