The UPS Foundation Donates US$ 34,000  to Chofu Gakuen Group Foster Home
Press Release

Tokyo, December 3, 2009 - The UPS Foundation has donated US$ 34,150 to the Chofu Gakuen foster home to upgrade its facilities for its approximately 100 children residents. This includes renovating and painting the external walls of the foster home and building a playground for the children.

"UPS is privileged to contribute this grant to support the improvement of the children's living environment in Chofu Gakuen. UPS will continue to contribute to society through its community programs," said Yoshiki Mizokuchi, President of UPS Japan.

Established in 1925, Chofu Gakuen is a group foster home operated by the Certified Social Welfare Group, Rokutoen. The organization was established in 1948 as a result of the Child Welfare Act to provide a group foster home for children and raise them as socially independent adults. They currently provide children with a suitable environment to live, learn, receive career counseling and attend recreational activities, among other things.

UPS employees have been actively involved with the organization since 2005. UPS volunteers have organized computer classes to the children and have also donated gifts and prizes for various events.
