Strengthens Business in Kyushu
UPS, the world's largest small package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain services, today opened its first Pickup and Delivery Centre in Fukuoka, providing its own pickup and delivery service in Fukuoka Prefecture. With this new facility, UPS will deploy its own delivery vehicles, drivers, and sales staff into the Kyushu market.
For a start, the Fukuoka centre will focus on covering the key business areas in the cities of Fukuoka and Kita-Kyushu. The new centre provides pickup and delivery services to four wards in Fukuoka City (Hakata, Higashi, Chuo, and Minami Wards) and three wards in Kita-Kyushu (Kokura Minami, Kokura Kita, and Yahata Nishi Wards). UPS's long term strategy includes expanding its coverage to districts with a high concentration of factories.
Mikio Sato, Vice President of UPS Japan said, "This new facility enables businesses in the area to utilise UPS's global network through a diverse range of international logistics services. For instance, items shipped by 13:30 can be loaded onto an UPS aircraft the same day, enabling next-day delivery to major cities in the U.S. and Asia."
Kyushu has a high concentration of high-tech and automotive manufacturers and enjoys sound growth in trade with the rest of Asia while Fukuoka is a market with high freight volume. With the new UPS centre, UPS will utilise its own aircraft which means guaranteed freight space for customers' shipments. In addition, UPS offers a range of guaranteed express services to ensure that customers' shipments arrive on time.
With a solid transportation network, Fukuoka has become an excellent gateway to Asia - a city with business potential. For shippers in Fukuoka, UPS technology enables the company to provide efficient cutting-edge international logistics solutions.
UPS is the world's largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain services, offering an extensive range of options for synchronizing the movement of goods, information and funds. Headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., UPS serves more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. UPS's stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange (UPS).
