With immediate effect, kindly note that all shipments containing lithium batteries will be inspected by our service provider during pick up. Customers with lithium battery shipments are requested not to seal their packages so that our service providers can inspect the lithium battery contents on site.
In addition, customers are also required to attach both declaration letter and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for all lithium batteries/ lithium batteries contained in/ packed with equipment shipments. The most updated HKCAD requires that lithium cells/ batteries must be consigned either as:
- Class 9 dangerous goods (accepted by UPS only through contractual agreement) or
- Excepted lithium cells/batteries in accordance with the requirements set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Shipments not in compliance may experience delays. We seek your kind understanding and cooperation in supporting this change which is a prudent step in a multi-layered approach towards enhanced security.
Please contact the Dangerous Goods Office of Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department at 2182 1214/ 2182 1221 or visit the CAD website at http://www.cad.gov.hk/English/dangerousgoods.html for more information.
