UPS Ranks First With Best Image in Package Service
Press Release

In the "Image Ranking", a survey conducted by VerkehrsRundschau magazine, UPS once again took first place with a clear lead in the Courier, Express and Package Services category

Neuss, February 10, 2014 - On behalf of the Munich-based weekly magazine VerkehrsRundschau, the market research institute Kleffmann from L├╝dinghausen conducted a survey of 400 logistics decision-makers from German industrial and commercial enterprises (carriers). The researchers analyzed the image of 88 major brands in five logistics market segments. In the "Courier, Express and Package Service" category, UPS scored 753 of a possible 1000 points and took first place among the logistics decision-makers from German industrial and commercial enterprises, winning with a substantial margin over the second-ranked company that had 735 points.

A logistics service provider's imagine is of major importance, and 96.3 percent of the logistics decisions-makers confirmed that the reputation of a service provider plays an essential role when choosing transport and logistics services. A further study revealed that the crucial criteria for a logistics provider's image are quality of service, customer orientation, and value for money.

From 2002 to 2006, Logistik Inside magazine, which was absorbed by VerkehrsRundschau in 2009, conducted a survey on the image of logistics providers. In 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008* UPS took first place in the image rankings in the logistics provider category. The 2012 image ranking is the first since 2008 to have judged companies specifically in the categories Courier, Express and Package Services, and UPS again ranked first. The 2013 survey did not include the CEP category, and so UPS was able to achieve its seventh victory in 2014.

Frank Sportolari, president of UPS Germany, accepted the Image Award on behalf of UPS Germany employees on Thursday, February 6, 2014 during a gala event organized by VerkehrsRundschau in Munich. The glass trophy was presented to him by Birgit Bauer, editor-in-chief of VerkehrsRundschau and Matthias Wissmann, president of the German Automotive Industry Association (VDA).

"We're proud to have once more received this award for the parcel service with the best image. This is an award for our employees, as it underscores the excellent service and quality they provide, which is highly valued by our customers", said Sportolari. "The seventh victory in the Image Ranking clearly shows how important it is for us to be appreciated by our customers. We enter into long-term and trust-based partnerships with our customers in order to support them in achieving their business goals and becoming more competitive. For a global leader in business and industry, efficient logistic solutions are the decisive factor, especially for an export nation like Germany. This especially applies to SMEs, which have not yet fully explored their potential with markets outside the EU."

All rankings and data of the "Image Ranking Transport and Logistics services" study from 2014 as well as from previous years will be available free of charge to e-paper and premium subscribers of VerkehrsRundschau from February 7, 2014 at www.verkehrsrundschau.de/image-tl.

* In 2004 and 2007, UPS ranked second. Among the logistics providers, UPS ranked as the best KEP service in 2014. Overall, no other express and parcel service provider has been as successful as UPS in this company image survey.
