Service Update

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in response to reported cases of Avian Influenza Strain H5N1 (bird flu), has restricted* the importation of birds, poultry, eggs and egg products originating from the following 27 countries.

Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Cameroon, China, Egypt, France (VS-defined restricted zone only), India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Sweden (Kalmar county only), Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam

Please note:  UPS does not carry live birds.

There is currently no impact to UPS operations in any country as a result of bird flu. We monitor closely the reports and guidance issued by the World Health Organization of the United Nations and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

For further detail on Avian Influenza or related U.S. import restrictions, please visit:

* Countries' status is subject to change.  Products from these countries can only be imported if they are for scientific, educational, or research purposes and the U.S. Department of Agriculture has determined that the importation can be made under conditions that will prevent the introduction of H5N1 into the United States.  The articles must be accompanied by a permit obtained from the U.S. Department of Agriculture APHIS division prior to the importation in the United States and must be moved and handled as specified on the permit.
