Beijing, Jan. 14, 2010 - UPS (NYSE: UPS) announced plans to significantly increase its service parts logistics network in China by establishing 101 new field stocking locations (FSLs). The UPS FSL network expansion will cover 89 key cities across China, spanning more than 110 bonded and non-bonded FSLs.
"This expansion in China is important to the growth of our Post Sales business worldwide and will benefit companies who require close-to-customer China FSLs for same-day and next-business-day delivery of critical service parts," said Steven Wong, Vice President, Supply Chain Operations, UPS China. China is a critical part of the growth strategy of many companies around the world and UPS's extensive regional and global FSL network enables companies to be strategically positioned to support their after-market needs."
The expanded UPS FSL network in China enables companies' critical service parts to reach their end destinations quickly using UPS's 2-hour, 4-hour, 6-hour, same day or next business day delivery services. The extended offering will benefit customers across different industries, such as companies in the high tech/electronics, medical equipment and aerospace industries.
Like the rest of UPS FSLs across the globe, the FSL network in China will utilise UPS Post Sales Order Management System (OMS), a web-based system that enables companies located anywhere in the world to quickly access their critical parts inventory, determine the most optimal routing strategy to meet customer needs, place orders online and track parts from the warehouse to the end user.
"With the Asia Pacific region's continued economic growth the demand for Post Sales services will also rise and UPS is expanding its Post Sales solutions in the region to fulfill these market needs." Chan said.
UPS's SPL network is the world's largest with more than 950 FSLs in 120 countries. This global footprint, which is fully integrated with the company's global transportation network, enables UPS customers to locate their products closer to their customers and suppliers. By combining comprehensive service capabilities with operational excellence and best-in-class technology, UPS helps customers achieve an optimized service parts supply chain.
UPS's comprehensive Post Sales services include critical parts order fulfillment for inbound inventory; warehousing and management of critical parts worldwide; returns and recycling management; and parts and inventory planning.
