UPS offers a free, downloadable desktop tool that makes shipping and tracking packages easy, convenient, and fun
Beijing, April 21, 2010 - UPS (NYSE: UPS) announced today in China the official launch of a downloadable desktop application that combines fun with functionality via the UPS Widget™, making it easy for customers to get automated shipment tracking alerts, send status updates to their customers and receive news via RSS in an engaging way.
UPS Widget tracks both inbound and outbound shipments for users using UPS Quantum View Notify® technology to prompt shipment exceptions and delivery notifications. At the same time, UPS Widget has taken the traditional format of tracking packages on a webpage and changed it into an animated interface. The vivid facial expressions and motions from this animated figure help ease the pressures of work, making package delivery more enjoyable.
This free tool also delivers information about UPS services and promotions directly to the desktop. For example, UPS Widget can display video and "how to" demos for new UPS products or enhancements.
Users can store up to 75 tracking numbers at a time and access quick links to calculate time and cost and process shipments on ups.com. RSS feeds can also be customized. Enhancements to UPS Widget include proactive notifications, color coding for quick viewing of shipment status and the ability for users to unlock different characters through UPS promotions. This version is now also available to MAC users.

UPS Widget is easy to install on a PC or a MAC and directions can be found at www.ups.com/widget. For existing myups.com customers, no additional registration is necessary and the same user ID and password can be used to download UPS Widget. For new customers, registration is simple and quick, and allows UPS Widget to send more relevant custom messages.
Visitors also can configure their own UPS Widget character and submit it to a worldwide gallery, where Widget fans can view activity across global markets.
