48 Hours Left to Bid
Fredericton, NB, November 13, 2009 - There are 48 hours left to bid on a unique painting from a Canadian celebrity. The online auction for A Brush of Hope closes November 15, 2009. A Brush of Hope is a fundraising initiative that supports The Kidney Foundation of Canada's critical research.
"Currently there is no cure for kidney disease and nearly two million Canadians either have the disease or are at risk of contracting it," said Tim Fox, executive director, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Branch of The Kidney Foundation of Canada. "If you haven't had a chance already, take a moment today to look at the paintings and place a bid. You'll probably be surprised at how affordable they are, and remember they are all one-of-a-kinds."
Over 90 celebrities have created original paintings including musicians Alex Lifeson and Stompin' Tom Connors, hockey player John Tavares, author Stuart McLean, comedian Brent Butt and even the province's premier, Shawn Graham.
"This Brush of Hope fundraising event and the Kidney Foundation are very close to our hearts," said Shelley Gares, vice-president of brokerage for UPS Canada, a major sponsor of A Brush of Hope. "Seven years ago one of our colleagues, Darren Martin, needed a kidney transplant. Thanks to the Kidney Foundation, its work across the country and specifically its dedication to research, UPS is able to contribute to this great cause with Darren at our side."
Bidding on the paintings will end at various times on November 15th, anyone wishing to bid should do so right away. To bid, go to www.ebay.ca, keyword search Kidney Foundation.
