Press Release

$72 Million Expansion To Add 900 Jobs in Vaughan

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 30, 2007 -- One of Ontario's fastest growing cities soon will be the site of UPS's largest Canadian distribution centre.

UPS Canada (NYSE:UPS) recently broke ground on a $72 million infrastructure expansion project in Vaughan, scheduled for completion by 2009.  The expansion will be made to the company's existing Toronto Hub facility located on the north side of Steeles Avenue, at Jane Street, directly across from York University's main campus.

The project represents the largest single capital investment made to date by UPS Canada.

With the expansion, the facility will increase to more than twice its current size, covering 40 acres and expanding the building to a total of 465,000 square feet.  The facility will double its processing and delivery capabilities.  The plans include expansion of the hub's trailer staging, automotive shop, guardhouse and employee parking facilities.  It also will see the expansion of the car wash and fuelling facilities.

"This new facility will be the largest UPS small package hub in Canada and will incorporate a number of new technologies," said Jim Lambis, vice president of plant engineering, UPS Canada.  "It is through the growth of business and the hard work of our dedicated employees that we can now take our operation to greater heights, and we look forward to contributing even more to the local economy in Vaughan."

The capital investment in the facility is expected to generate 900 new jobs.  Many of the jobs are expected to be attractive to students at the York University campus.

"We knew 20 years ago we would eventually exceed the limitations of our facility because of our successful operation and growth plans in Canada," Lambis said.  "Today, we can say with equal confidence that we will continue to grow well into the future, meeting the needs of Canadian business and contributing to the local and national economy."

UPS officials predict the project will be complete in time to service the surge in shipments during the 2009 holiday season.
