UPS Canada Continues to Recognize Fredericton Employees for Community Involvement

(Fredericton, NB - April 5, 2000) - A United Parcel Service Canada Ltd. (UPS Canada) employee with a long history of community involvement was recently presented the 2000 Margaret Eldridge Award.

Debbie Hill, who works for UPS Customs Brokerage, volunteers at the Eastern Star fraternal organization. As a member, she is involved in events to raise money for groups such as the Fredericton Food Bank, Transition House, the Community Kitchen, and Girl Guides. Ms. Hill, who is also an active Girl Guide leader, received the award in a ceremony at the UPS Customs Brokerage facility.

The UPS community award was created as a memorial for Margaret Eldridge, a UPS Fredericton employee well known for her dedication to the community, who passed away in 1996. It was established to remember the work Eldridge did in the community, and to provide annual recognition for UPS Customs Brokerage employees in Fredericton.

"Debbie is an exceptionally caring and responsible person, and is very deserving of this year's Margaret Eldridge Award," said Lisa Pare, Director of UPS Customs Brokerage. "UPS employees realize that through strong personal connections with our community, we make a difference in the lives of others."

As part of the Margaret Eldridge Award, recipients receive a plaque and have their name added to a memorial near the entrance to the UPS Customs Brokerage facility. Additionally, UPS makes a cash donation of $500 in the name of the recipient to the not-for-profit organization of his or her choice. Debbie has donated this year's funds to Camp Goodtime, a camp for children living with cancer.
