Below you can find costs and descriptions of additional shipping charges that
may be incurred.
| Packages with an actual weight of more than 150 pounds (70 kg), or that exceed 108 inches (270 cm) in length or a total of 165 inches (419 cm) in length and girth combined, as measured to determine their billable weight, are not accepted for transportation. These packages are subject to an Over Maximum Limits surcharge, in addition to all other applicable charges, if found in the UPS small package system. |
A Large Package Surcharge will be applied to each UPS package when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 130 inches (330cm), but does not exceed the maximum UPS size of 165 inches (419cm).
Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 90 pounds (40kgs) in addition to the Large Package Surcharge.
An Additional Handling charge will not be assessed when a Large Package Surcharge is applied. |
Additional Handling applies to the following:
- Any article that is encased in an outside shipping container made of metal or wood
- Any cylindrical item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container
- Any package with the longest side exceeding 60 inches (152 cm) or its second-longest side exceeding 30 inches (76 cm)
- Any package with an actual weight greater than 70 pounds (32 kg)
- Each package in a shipment where the average weight per package is greater than 70 pounds (32 kg) and the weight for each package is not specified on the source document or the UPS automated shipping system used
UPS also reserves the right to assess the Additional Handling Charge for any package that, in UPS's sole discretion, requires special handling. |
| If a mistake has been made in the address, we will make every reasonable effort to find the correct address and deliver the shipment if it is within the same destination country. An additional charge for this service will be billed to the shipper. You can view the address correction charges in the Additional Charges table. |
| Shipper pays a destination country's duty and tax, as well as all shipping charges. This occurs whenever duties and taxes are billed outside the destination country. |
| This charge applies when the Bill Receiver or Bill Third Party option has been selected and the bill-to party refuses to pay the shipping charges. A processing fee per shipment will be charged to the shipper, in addition to the shipping charges and other amounts payable when non-payment occurs. You can calculate the fees using the Additional Charges table. |
Extended Area Surcharge UPS provides a pickup delivery service in extended, as well as urban, areas. An additional charge applies for each shipment that is picked up or delivered in an extended area.
Remote Area Surcharge This surcharge is applied for delivery to or pickup from an area beyond UPS extended areas, which are less accessible for pickups and deliveries (domestic and international services). |
| By declaring a higher value on the UPS source document or the UPS shipping system used, and paying an additional charge, you can increase our limits of liability up to the declared amount with a maximum of USD50,000 per package, or the equivalent in local currency. |
| In addition to the regular shipping costs associated with your UPS Worldwide ExpressSM shipment, UPS will impose a surcharge for each shipment to the United States, Asia, Canada, and Europe. You can calculate the charges using the Additional Charges table. |
An account number is invalid if it is not the correct account number for the bill-to party, or if it is the account number for a consignee or third party who fails to pay the shipping charges.
- A charge per shipment will be assessed for domestic (if available) and international shipments with a missing or invalid payor account number. Additionally, if the consignee or third party fails to pay the shipping charges, the original shipper will be billed a refusal fee plus the shipping charges.
| An additional charge may be required for remote area collections or difficult to access. The fee is based on specific origin and/or destination country requirements and may apply to imports and/or exports to be charged to the consignee. |
| A surcharge will be applied for each early pickup request. |
| The transportation of non-hazardous biological materials consisting of human or animal specimens for clinical trials, research or diagnosis, are accepted on a contract basis only. For transportation of these specimens, carbon dioxide, solid (dry ice), is accepted as it is used to keep temperature-sensitive products cold or frozen while in transit. For more information with these type of shipments, please contact your Account Executive. |
Domestic packages that have been rejected by the consignee, or which cannot be delivered due to causes beyond the control of UPS, will be returned to sender. Transportation and fuel charges will apply for the return.
International packages rejected by the consignee, or that cannot be delivered due to causes beyond the control of UPS, will be held by UPS. The shipper will then be contacted for further instructions. The UPS service guarantee does not apply to Undeliverable Packages that are returned to the sender. An undeliverable returns surcharge will be applied in addition to other applicable charges. See table above for Undeliverable Package rate. |
| UPS carbon neutral is an option for shippers who are conscious about their climate impact and are doing something positive about it.
