UPS Completes Purchase of Polish Messenger Service Stolica S.A.
BRUSSELS, May 4, 2005 - UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced it has completed the purchase of Messenger Service Stolica S.A., one of the leading parcel and express delivery companies in Poland. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Stolica's network and capabilities will further strengthen UPS's ability to manage customers' business needs in a very dynamic and exciting European market," said Wolfgang Flick, president, UPS Europe. "Stolica's services soon will be sold under the UPS brand, and our combined service offering will even better position UPS to support companies of any size with shipment requirements into, within and from Poland," he added.
Warsaw-based Stolica, which has been operating in Poland since 1993 and in 2004 had revenues of $64 million, provides customers a full array of delivery services through a strong nationwide network backed by advanced technology and an experienced workforce. The acquisition enhances UPS's strong and reliable delivery network in Poland, solidifies the company's premium domestic service offering in the largest Central European economy and offers a much broader Polish customer base access to UPS's vast global delivery system and wide range of international services.
